Ehemhemhumhark!

One of the funniest things I've experienced while role-playing in World of Warcraft was when my chararcter and her most trusted friend crossed Kalimdor wearing torn rags. My Freya, a professional spy and mercenary, has always had some ... shall we say... problems with trusting people. Once, she was badly injuried and woke up abroad a ship - wearing nothing but her underwear. She found out that the crew would not let her leave, and so, panicking, she simply jumped overboard and swam ashore. When her friend Sandra returned, she was furious and pursued her immediately. Meanwhile, Freya was still on the run, seeking shelter in a seemingly empty cave. Her friend found her eventually and calmed her down, but did not bring food or clothes. The two women had to spend some time in the cave, having nothing but a small dagger. Freya was too injuried to move, so the other one treated her there. She made campfires, brewed herbal tea and hunted down small animals for food. The clothes they wore were made out of leaves, bark, sinews and leather scraps.
Then, one day, when Freya felt better, they started to explore the empty cave... A dragon suddenly appears out of nothing and attacks. Freya managed to get out of reach, but Sandra was knocked over and left with a huge wound. Still, Freya somehow managed to grab her friend and escape the cave.
The journey back to the Eastern Kingdoms was a hard one, with no money, no food and no medical treatment. They spent days walking, trying to stick to the road, running from hostile Horde scouts and stealing food from Horde camps. One time, as they rested in an abandoned tent, two Orc warriors stumbled over them and decided to amuse themselves a little. Freya, not knowing the meaning of sanity or defeat, was more than willing to take them both on, but Sandra was more rational. The two women barely escaped with their skin intact, luckily having good training in covering tracks and merging with shadows.
Eventually, they managed to reach their town, their homecoming drawing much attention...
It's amazing what you can do with a little creativity. Everything was improvised, except from that we had our "rags" with us. I believe we puzzled many a player, walking around weaponless and unprotected in level 40+ zones. The two Orc players were amazing and played their roles excellently through emotes, as WoW doesn't allow players of opposite factions to communicate. They probably realized we were RPing and didn't run us over mercilessly.

Heh heh. Sounds like fun times, Caellach. Those are always the gold experiences. Didn't involve quests or grinding, just friends and a little imagination.
